It affects everybody, and there is very little you can do to prevent it and, I think, worst of all-?you can't detect it until it's probably too late. HTML) Coming from the answer of Anna Marie Estonia, a sophomore IBIS student of PUT, Identity Theft is a form of stealing someone's identity in which someone pretends to be someone else by assuming that person's identity, typically in order to access resources or obtain credit and other benefits in that person's name. (http://]CM. Indiana. Du/via/issues/Boyd. Ellison. HTML) There are dating sites, friendship sites, and sites with a business purpose and hybrids that offer a combination of these. Globally, hundreds of millions of people have Joined one or more social sites. Whom. PCMCIA. Com) From the response of Noel Angelo Magellan, Social Networking Sites are more likely a virtual place where people in the world can communicate and interact with each other socially and as explained by Christine Marie Tyson, Social Networking ties are used for communicating our love ones in other places in the world, our long lost friends, used for worldw ide meetings and many more. In short, communicating people's lives to another person around the world. Example of this sites are Faceable, Twitter, Renee, Webb, mayday and many more.To sum it up, Social Networking Sites are made for the purpose of social interaction ââ¬â connecting and communicating with one another around the world through internet. Describing the Cases of Identity Theft Law enforcement agencies have developed new methods and new relationships to catch the bad guys in cyberspace. Some cases include Reshipping and Pushing. Reshipping is an operation in which conspirators or unwitting accomplices in the United States are hired to receive packages of electronic or other merchandise bought with fraudulent or stolen credit cards, and then repackages the merchandise for shipment, usually abroad.By the time the merchant finds out that the credit card was fraudulent, the merchandise is already in another country. Pushing is the act of attempting to steal passwords and financial information by posing as a trustworthy person or business in a seemingly official (spoofed) electronic communication. Daniel Larkin, Fighting Online Crime) It may seem that there are some countries like the United States and Australia which have already enacted laws that pertain to the prosecution of identity theft related crimes. The Philippines however, being one of the largest Faceable populations in the world -? is also one of the many countries without a law to protect its citizens from online identity theft. Clogging is one of the many online problems involving identity theft. A Kellogg is software that tracks your keystrokes and records them so that a hacker can go back later and see what sites you visited, what information you submitted and more. Gallopers work invisibly in the background and are impossible to detect without security software. (www. Agro. H) As explained by Christine Marie Tyson, cases of identity theft nowadays can do anything like, chatting with strangers to get close with them, pushing, hack one's account in order to get some benefits of their victims, impersonates someone else in order to conceal their own true identity, getting somebody else's photos and information through social networking sites and portray or imitate the identity of the victim. To summarize the discussion, the one thing that all of these attacks have in common though is the very thing that binds social networks together: trust. We need to become far more aware of the value of our personal information and importantly the information we have about your friends. Web 2. With its user-generated, rich, interactive content and social networking with its interlinked trust-based networks of people and groups, offer cybernetics's great scope for leveraging the capabilities offered, both to disseminate traditional forms of mallard through new channels and also to carry out social engineering attacks for the purposes of target profiling or identity theftâ⬠. (http:// hosted. Personalities. Com/358216/affection/1746500010/cybercafà ©/) Based on the answer of Paul Francis del Rosaries, â⬠Å"It can affect the site's popularity. Some people would probably quit using the site if their image or identity were used in ways that they did not know about. The site would have reduced users which would also affect their income rate. Because social networking sites usually depends on how many users they have on their site for example is the ââ¬Å"Faceableâ⬠. â⬠To sum up, with limited government oversight, industry standards or incentives to educate users on security, privacy and protecting your identity, users are then exposed to identity theft and fraud.Additionally, these platforms have terabytes of confidential user information and are likely vulnerable to outside (or inside) attack. Although the issue is not yet in the mainstream conscious, it may well e sooner or later. The procedure at the starting point of the race differed much as compared to the present practice in vogue. Twenty contenders stood erect with their arms extended in front of them. The race would be re-run, if the first resulted in a tie. Peace was the watchword during the ancient Olympic Games. It was known as ââ¬Å"ekecheiriaâ⬠, meaning ââ¬Å"holding of hands.â⬠Safety of the competitors and spectators was assured and all wars, mutual threats and capital punishment stood suspended during the course of games. The ancient Olympic Games were linked to warfare as per the specially adopted procedure. The participants would run 800 yards in full body armor. Congo Conflict Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 5000 words
Congo Conflict - Research Paper Example Lack of resources and labor and strategic planning prevented the country from effectively controlling mining areas, which could have starved off funding for numerous illegal groups. The country has historically been at conflict since independence from Belgium in 1960. The United Nations has been present in the country from that time although its activities were restarted after the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. The Congo conflict has created many security and economic complications in the great lakes region. The United Nations has played and continues to play a crucial role in peace building and development in the democratic republic of Congo, with the major aim of creating a stable government and ensuring basic human rights are maintained in the country. The conflict in the DRC is complex and has many actors with very many historical injustices mostly a legacy of colonialism. Colonial injustice forms the root cause of the conflict. This paper will argue that the international response to the Congo conflict has not been successful. The paper will highlight the successes and failures MONUC and show that the United Nations and the International Community have not understood the underlying causes of the conflict. Addressing the root causes will help solve the crisis. Introduction Violence experienced in the Eastern Parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo is due to various ethnic and political differences. Peace has been elusive in the DRC and the United Nations is still running missions to maintain peace and stability to a region that has experienced more than one war with violence still flaring up even today. The country has lost over millions of lives to various wars with millions more people having being internally displaced and over thousands of citizens seeking refuge in other countries due to consistent violence in volatile areas including North and South Kivu, Katanga and Itori1. Sexual violence in the region is the most prevalent problem in the country with th ousands of rapes having being documented from 2005 to 20072. The country circumstances are unique because it is landlocked and surrounded by nine other nations. Intermittent violent conflict in the DRC causes regional instability in the region due to a weakened government. The country runs in an over stretched budgets due to constant military activity. Rwanda and Uganda constantly stir violence in Congo due to their constant forays into the DRC for economic reasons. The United Nations influence became critical in 1999 when many of the democratic republic of Congo neighbors became embroiled in the conflict. The United Nation Peacekeepers were tasked with enforcing the Lusaka Accord. The United Nation created the United States Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo commonly known as MONUC in 2000. The major responsibilities of MONUC were to implement and monitor the ceasefire agreement. MONUC was also mandated to collectively facilitate the recognition and observation basic of hu man rights in conjunction with other Non-Governmental Organizations. Despite the presence of the peace keeping forces, the conflict in the region never ended and consequently MONUC mandate has been extended several times with their mandate being constantly reviewed. The peacekeeping force is now required to protect Congo citizens from violence and maintain arms embargoes placed in the region.

Syria MDG'S Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Syria MDG'S - Essay Example The year 1946 marks the time when this country gained independence and established itself as parliamentary republic. Since its independence the country has seen many skirmishes and wars. Many coups and attempts to take over the throne have shattered Syriaââ¬â¢s infrastructure. The al-Assad family has been ruling the country since 1970. Hafiz al-Assad ruled the office from 1970-2000 only to be usurped by his son Bashar al-Assad. Today the country is part of United Nations. But due to conflict in the region its membership has been deferred from the Arab League as well as from Organization of Islamic Cooperation. March 2012 marks the formation of Syrian National Coalition, a group that stands in opposition to the government. The Arab League invited the representative of this group to take Syriaââ¬â¢s seat. Currently Syria is governed by President Bashar al-Asad. It has been almost 3 years since conflict began. Humanitarian development achievements in the country have now been rolled back due to consistent fighting in the area. Flying bullets from everywhere make it difficult for humanitarian workers to continue their work. The conflict in Syria has already killed over 120,000 people and displaced 6.5 million (UNDP, n.d.). The crisis has stolen employment from the 50% population pushing Syrian citizens into poverty (UNDP, n.d.). Millions of Syrians are searching for refuge in neighboring areas and their host countries face a great challenge accommodating millions of them. Influx of new refugees is a serious setback for neighboring states. Basic needs like education, health, sanitation, infrastructure and non-existent economic opportunity has created cutthroat competition for jobs in Syria (UNDP, n.d.). People are practically living in ruins. Tensions are always on the rise threatening to rip apart the social cohesion. The UNDP workers were already deployed in Syria even before the crisis began. Their work was affected due
An analysis of 12 angry men Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
An analysis of 12 angry men - Essay Example An analysis of "12 angry men" Note how the leadership in the movie depend on that which Aristotle had previously given . Also note that Aristotle's formation of rhetoric makes it a component of every human effort, apart from (perhaps) those aspects of technical discussion which are so famous as to be established practically without question. In groups, large or small, the identity and make up of who becomes the leader and who becomes the follower is difficult to explain. In the case of the movie "Twelve Angry Men," the small group is the jury and the verdict they have to find. There is an underlying assumption that the jury will judge their fellow man fairly and without any personal bias. However the imperfections of man make this process less than perfect. It is here, when emotions and logic are inserted into the thought process, that conflict, doubt and questioning of motives start to occur. When the leader, in this case the foreman, takes charge we see his influence and power over the other members of the group (jury) start to take place and eventually the power shifts to another individual, in this case another jury member, an architect. On first look, the jury probably would have unanimously voted for conviction, however, as the discussion progressed, the architect gets the rest of the members to question their quick decision. While the foreman was relying on his legitimate place of power as the foreman, the architect keeps the group talking and discussing the facts of the case, and listening to each other. The foreman stayed focused and kept the discussion going and wanted all voting procedures to be fair, while the architect used rationality and logic and wanted the others to discuss their way to a still unanimous decision, but better defended. The fear of disappointing the group is stronger than perhaps their own judgment, and after the vote was not unanimous for a guilty verdict, each member tried to convince the architect, the dissenting vote, as to why they feel the suspect is guilty. After much discussion, another vote is taken, only this time it is done by secret ballot, and eventually it comes back with another unanimous decision. However, this time it is opposite of its original position: not guilty, here we find Aristotle's leadership rhetoric plays an essential role here as in this scenario as the foreman bases his leadership on Aristotle's rhetoric of leadership he strongly believes that truth needs protection exactly like the perpetration of wrongs. The bad guys will defiantly make use rhetoric...why should the good guys be powerless There is a political sense in this theory too: right thinking leaders like the jury and foreman, those who have well of the most in mind, ought to be able to take effective leadership action like the jury and foreman did in the movie (and must do so). When the group was assembled in the jury room they were polite, organized and civil to each other. They very well knew what their responsibility was as well as they collectively were thinking this was a precise case. The expectations which most of the members of jury were that a decision of guilty would be reached quite promptly and all of them would be able to leave. Compliance with this norm was first evident with the first vote taken, only one of the jury members voted for a guilty verdict. No one wanted to disappoint the group. All of the jury's leadership strengths seem to again reflect Aristotle's leade

Titus andronicus by william shakespeare Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Titus andronicus by william shakespeare - Essay Example In the first passage chosen for this paper, Titus Andronicus tells Saturninus that he in fact killed his two sons, and then proceeded to mix their flesh with pie, which their mother then unwittingly ate: ââ¬Å"Why, there they are both, baked in that pie;/ Whereof their mother daintily hath fed,/ Eating the flesh that she herself hath bred. Tis true, tis true; witness my knifes sharp point. (Shakespeare). In this passage two things are worth noting. One is that Titus seemed to be proud of the fact that he had killed two people, and both of them the sons of the person he is addressing. If this were an act of revenge, or an act where a noble man kills men who were evil and had done some terrible wrong to others, then this boasting would have remained within the confines of sane narration. What makes this killing so monstrous is that Titus was not content with killing the two sons, but we read between the lines that he had prepared their flesh and mixed them with pie, precisely so he co uld feed the flesh of her dead sons to their mother. There is no sense to this, and no justification, other than to show that Titus lacked remorse. It was unnecessary to do things this way. The purpose of the monstrous in this case seems to be just to demonstrate how inhuman the whole cascade of events was. The killing and the subsequent baking and feeding of the pie to the mother was gratuitous, totally uncalled for by the turn of events. This aspect of the killing is what makes the act so monstrous and totally inhuman (Shakespeare). Elsewhere we see just how Titus killed the two sons. He did so with the help of Lavinia, who held the basin that caught the blood from the slit throats of the two brothers. We understand that Lavinia suffered much from the two, but the measure of her revenge seemed to go beyond the bounds of what is human too. She could have just had them killed, but she chose to see the killing, and she chose to do so

World View Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
World View - Essay Example Culture is quite a flexible and fragile phenomenon, a feature which gives it extensive dynamism. Therefore, it changes easily and can be easily lost because it only exists in the minds of people. Culture determines many aspects of the lives of people. It has a strong influence on government, formal language, architecture, and a host of other products of human creativity (Oââ¬â¢Neil, 1 ââ¬â 4). Human culture occurs in three levels. The first one is the collection of cultural traditions that are unique to a society. An example of this is Japanese culture. The second level of culture is a subculture. In societies composed of groups of people who have come from a number of different parts of the world, individuals usually retain their culture, which distinguishes them from the rest of society. The third level of culture is cultural universals, which consists of behavioral patterns that people learn and collectively share all over the world. Examples of cultural traits characterist ic of cultural universals are; the use of gender and age to classify individuals within the society, and the division of labor on a gender basis (Oââ¬â¢Neil, 4 ââ¬â 7). Mythology Mythology is a body of myths possessed by a particular society. A myth is a narrative of a sacred nature that provides an explanation as to why the humankind or the world transformed to become as it is now. Myths usually contain supernatural characters and religious leaders of the society usually endorse them. Myths are part of the culture of a society and, therefore, play a decisive role in shaping that societyââ¬â¢s behavioral patterns. This is especially because they substantially influence a societyââ¬â¢s religious beliefs.
